Spanish Graduate Student Attends ACTFL Convention in Chicago

This past weekend one of our MA-Spanish graduate students, Annie McCord (’25), attended the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Convention in Chicago, Illinois (November 17– November 19, 2023). The annual ACTFL Convention sponsors hundreds of workshops, seminars, and research presentations throughout the weekend, and always occurs the weekend before Thanksgiving. Annie received a Graduate Student Council Travel Grant and a Department of Modern Languages Award to fund her attendance to ACTFL this year. Annie is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) and teaches Spanish 1 in her first semester at K-State. This was her first ACTFL Convention, and she has had previous experience attending and presenting at the Kansas World Language Association (KSWLA) Conference last year.

First, ACTFL is enormous! At the same time, I found so many common connections between myself, other attendees, presenters, and people I know in the language field.
