Take “Italian for Travelers” this Fall!

The Department of Modern Languages is offering ITAL 105: Italian Language & Culture for Travelers as a 2-credit course this fall, meeting in person on the K-State campus every Thursday evening from 5:30-7:20pm (Fall 2024).

This course is ideal for students planning to study abroad in Italy in the Spring ’25 semester or Summer ’25 term, especially as part of K-State in Italy’s program in Orvieto. The class offers students the essentials of communication in Italian to help facilitate a successful study abroad experience. Students will explore Italian culture, particularly as it relates to travel and the areas where students swill be traveling during the K-State in Italy program: Umbria (Orvieto), Tuscany (Florence), and Lazio (Rome).

Past K-State in Italy participants have found this course especially useful in preparing them to live and study in Italy, and for helping them get the most out of their experience by understanding the basics of communication and cultural difference before the program started. They felt more comfortable when navigating their new neighborhood, attending classes, eating at restaurants, purchasing food at the market, and simply interacting with locals in Italy.
